When I was a kid, I remember grown-ups joking that any deep hole (that I was digging in a sandbox, perhaps) would go “straight down to China.” So of course I had to find a globe and verify. Surprise: I’d actually end up in the ocean, somewhere off the coast of Australia. Today, you can answer the same question online…
